With over 900 exhibitors and over 34,000 square metres of exhibition space, Intertextile Shanghai will be the premier sourcing venue for fabric buyers in Shanghai and across China in 2003.
Taking place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from the 14-16 October 2003, this year’s show features international pavilions from over 21 countries including new groups from Japan, Portugal and Thailand. The special display area Tencel Zone will also be returning to Intertextile Shanghai for the second time.
Portugal is the 7th largest producer of textiles and clothing in the EU, currently exporting 70% of its total textile and clothing production. The Portuguese national pavilion at Intertextile Shanghai 2003, which is organised by Associação Selectiva Moda, will bring some the foremost apparel fabric suppliers from Portugal to China, including Paulo Oliviera, TMG Fabrics and Arco Texteis. The Portuguese display will include high quality fabrics, raw materials and new textile designs.
“At a time when the growth in European textiles consumption is slowing and China’s textile & garment market continues to thrive, Portuguese manufacturers and suppliers are becoming increasingly attracted to China as an export market for their products,” says Associação Selectiva Moda. “With our European experience and high-quality product, we hope to help satisfy the demand from China’s rapidly growing textile & garment industry.”
Arco Texteis, who are joining Intertextile Shanghai for the first time as member of the Portuguese pavilion, are specialists in cotton apparel fabrics for shirts and will be presenting their new fabric collection ‘ARCO’ at Intertextile this year. “Chinese manufacturers are relying more and more on western companies to fill the gaps in their domestic market,” says Arco Texteis. “As a producer of apparel fabrics it is very important for us to connect with these potential buyers. Exhibiting at Intertextile Shanghai will give us the opportunity to showcase our new products and hopefully break into the Chinese marketplace.”
Returning for its second appearance at Intertextile Shanghai this October is the Tencel Zone. Covering 180 square metres of exhibition space, the zone will house twelve mills that currently produce fabrics containing Tencel fibres and yarns.
“The Tencel Zone is the perfect introduction to Tencel,” says Echo Mok, Marketing Manager for Tencel Fibre, Asia. “Showcasing Tencel fabrics which are natural, comfortable, functional and long lasting, the Tencel Zone will act as a comprehensive one-stop-shop for buyers. They will be able to source new products and see the breadth and product diversity globally available from Tencel.”
The Tencel Zone will also introduce fabrics for Fall/Winter 2004/2005, which characterise a renewed interest in the contemporary casual lifestyle and blends for performance.
