United States Of America : November edition of IAS designed to meet buying needs for pre-holiday market

Messe Frankfurt, Inc. has confirmed that its November event in New York – The Intimate Apparel Salon held at the Millennium Broadway Hotel – will continue its long tradition this year November 2 – 4. An increasing number of exhibitors have lent their support for the November event.

The Intimate Apparel Salon has served the market for its No-vember dates for more than a decade. While the November edition of a competitive event organized by a French association has been canceled, Roland Bleinroth, President of Messe Frankfurt, Inc. stated, “The cancellation decision by the competi-tive event has not altered our stance on offering The Intimate Apparel Salon in November. Exhibitors have enthusiastically encouraged us to continue with the November Salon. Although the market at that time is smaller than in March and August, we will continue to offer a trade show in November as long as it serves the needs of the intimate apparel buyers and exhibitors”.

In continuing to support the November market dates Messe Frankfurt, Inc. considered the fact that intimate apparel industry members indicated that the buying time between the August and March INTIMA America events would be too long without the November show. Exhibitor interest in the November edition of IAS grew following the cancellation announcement of the competitive event organized by a French association.

“We will continue to make our trade show decisions based on the needs of the industry. This includes our continued efforts towards trade show consolidation, which started with the merger of the Intimate Apparel Salons and INTIMA America in New York. We are dedicated to producing shows for the intimate ap-parel buyers and manufacturers who support this industry”, added Bleinroth.

Another factor in Messe Frankfurt’s decision was that some companies, who may not have a showroom in New York, still need a venue to showcase their designs during the November market. Since the overhead of a showroom is high, many com-panies look to The Intimate Apparel Salon as an alternative marketing tool to reach their buyers.

The next INTIMA America / Intimate Apparel Salon will be held August 3 - 5, 2003 at the North Pavilion (“The Tents”) of the Jacob Javits Center. Over 200 domestic and international ex-hibitors are expected to present their latest collections to an au-dience of 2,000, specialty stores, mail-order catalogues, bou-tiques, department stores, designers, distributors and press. The event will also feature fabulous on-site fashion shows.

Messe Frankfurt hosts additional INTIMA events in Japan and Brazil.
