The long-awaited Dubai Textile City is due to be ready by the end of 2005. The project is best described as the biggest of its kind in the world, under a joint venture with the Dubai-based Textile Merchants Group (TEXMAS). It will indeed be very large, estimated at $55 million to develop, and it aspires to become the centre of a $1.4 billion consumer market extending through the Middle East, Africa and West Asia.
Designed to provide over 250 units in a covered area of more than two million sq ft. the Dubai Textile City will feature showrooms and stores, advanced communication networks and utility systems. Goods moving through the Dubai Textile City will be exempt from import duties.
