Govt Approves Setting Up Wool Bank |

To facilitate the availability of quality wool in the hill state at reasonable prices the centre has given the go-ahead for setting up of a wool bank in the Doon valley.
According to the official sources, an amount of Rs 39 lakh has been allotted to the state government by the Centre to set up the bank. Work will begin by the end of this month.
The government has been focussing on the three ws-wool, wood and wax -for promoting employment and production of souvenir items in the hill state to boost tourism.
Till now, hosiery manufacturers in Uttaranchal are largely dependent for the supply of wool on Ludhiana and Panipat. The state government had requested the Centre for Rs.1.5 crore for setting up the wool bank.
