Chief executive Export Promotion Bureau, Tariq Iqbal Puri, said that China would help Pakistan in setting up of three textile cities at Karachi, Lahore and Faislabad.
Tariq Iqbal who is on a week long visit to China said that "We would like to benefit from the Chinese expertise and experience in establishing these cities on modern lines, facing new challenges of WTO regime when textile quotas will come to an end,". He would visit Chinese textile cities in Guangdong province and meet leaders of textile industry to discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation for establishing the proposed three cities.
The first textile city will be established in the Port Qasim area in Karachi which will have full infrastructure facilities. The government has decided to set up the three cities by the end of next year.
Pakistan, he said would hold an investment workshop in Shanghai on Oct. 16 to interact Chinese investment in the country and develop more bilateral exchanges in the business sector.
Tariq Iqbal said, Pakistan has a rich potential and prospects to increase its exports to China, taking advantage of its deep-rooted diplomatic ties.
