The government of Bangladesh is planning to lift ban on yarn and sugar imports from India by next year. The ban of yarn and sugar imports had affected the trade transactions between the two neighbours.
Dhaka had hinted in the recent meeting that the ban on yarn and sugar import through land route would be lifted next year, S Ramasundram, Joint Secretary in India''s Ministry of Commerce who is heading the Indian delegation which is holding 3-day trade talks with the Bangladeshis said at a briefing here.
He described Monday''s discussions on non-tariff barriers as being held in a "very friendly and cordial atmosphere".
Referring to difficulties suffered by Bangladesh in exporting cement specially to north eastern states, Ramasundaram said India offered a special dispensation for Bangladesh cement exporters.
