Textile Maker Devises Temperature-Adjustable Nylon Fiber |
2003-10-28
Textile maker Kanebo Gohsen Ltd. said it has developed a nylon fiber that adjusts its temperature inside clothing in response to radical changes in outdoor temperatures.
The fiber, which it says is the first of its kind in the world, was jointly developed with Idemitsu Technofine Co.
Idemitsu Technofine offered its polymer technology, to absorb or discharge heat in response to temperature changes, Kanebo Gohsen said.
Using the polymer as its core, the new fiber helps maintain comfortable temperatures inside clothing even when outdoor temperatures rise or drop sharply.
Kanebo Gohsen will begin marketing the new fiber for use in underwear and outdoor clothing for the autumn and winter seasons of 2004, with first-year sales targeted at 250 million yen.
