Land finally allotted for Dubai Textile City |
2003-11-5
A six million square foot plot of land has been allotted for the Dubai Textile City (DTC) project in Warsan, located en route to Al Aweer.
Investments will entail over Dh200 million, with construction work scheduled to start later this month and completion in 18 months, according to a top official with Texmas, the grouping of textile trading firms.
It may be recalled that the project was announced two years ago. "The land has been allotted by Dubai Customs. The textile trade in Dubai is extremely pleased that the project is going ahead after two years," said Ashok Sawlani, vice-chairman.
"The delay occurred because of the change in location. We firmly believe that DTC is just what is required for the local textile trade - valued at Dh8 billion or so annually - into the new millennium and help us with gaining access to new markets," he said.
