Aiming to bring back past glory of jute, the golden fiber of Bangladesh the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC)" set up by the government is providing assistance to ensure diversified production of jute goods.
According to an expert of the Ministry of Jute, the JDPC, which has been encouraging the private sector to produce different diversified products using jute, will also provide financial and technical support to this end.
This organisation has also been providing support to make Doorswith jute as alternative of wood, textile equipment, soft yarn, furniture, jute blended yarn and blanket.
The expert said that two industrial units have been formed in the country so far by the financial and technical support of JDPC to produce diversified jute goods while four more units are awaiting bank loans to start functioning.
The JDPC will provide financial and technical support to the private sector to set up such industries in the country to ensure diversified use of jute goods till 2007, he added.
He said the country''s export of jute and jute goods has increased significantly after bringing dynamism to the search for markets of jute goods abroad.
Apart from these, the concerned ministry, international study group and export promotion bureau with the help of different missions in Dhaka have been organizing fairs in different countries to search for markets of paper and paper pulp made from jute for increasing use of jute and jute goods, the expert said.
