Its now or never for textile machinery industry |
2004-7-7
Certain clear and urgent decisions will have to be taken by the Italian textile machinery industry to withstand current difficult trading conditions, according to Alberto Sacchi, Chairman, Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT).
Confirming the year 2003 as the most difficult year yet punctuated by a seven per cent year-on-year fall in turnover, Sacchi speaking at ACIMIT''s annual general meeting in Milan gave a call to individual companies within the sector to revise their business strategies and restore competitiveness.
It is also fundamental that businessmen manage to stimulate growth within the business culture in order to fully understand, and then tackle, the indispensable changes which must be made as a basic step on the road to renewed (competition) and not as a threat to the positions already acquired.
He called for restructuring the companies for tapping international markets and covering virgin territories.
Italian textile machinery makers collectively export about 75 per cent of their total output. |
