The impact of the Chinese textiles, which has been so far felt only in the USA and Europe, now seems to be catching on in West Asia and Iran, in particular.
Low priced Chinese textiles entering Iran are knocking the sheen of the domestic markets and manufacturer.
Rampant smuggling had led to closure of about 1800 textile workshops, according to Javad Doroudian, Head of Tehran’s Clothes Syndicate, and the trend seems unabated, he said.
Doroudian stated that Iran’s Tax Affairs Organization does not care about the production policies even as the rate of inflation keeps rising.
He also criticized the government and as well as the police for their inability to prevent textile smuggling. |
