Hong Kong : Exports: Apparel up 4.9%, Textiles down 6.1% |

Machinery, equipment,apparatus, parts and components industry''s domestic exports rose by HK$ 900 million (US $115 million) in the second quarter, up 28.1 percent over a year earlier to HK $3.9 billion (US $500 million).
The Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department on Tuesday stated that the wearing apparel industry exports rose by HK $400 million or 4.9 percent to HK $8 billion in the same period.
However, the value of the textiles industry''s domestic exports fell by HK $500 million or 6.1 percent compared with the same quarter in 2003 to HK $7.8 billion.
The value of these four major industries together accounted for 73 percent of Hong Kong''s total domestic exports of manufactured goods. |
