The country''s textile machinery, equipment, accessories, parts and components industry''s domestic exports rose by HK$ 900 million (£62.8 million) in the second quarter, up 28.1 percent from previous year to HK $3.9 billion (£272 million).
The Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department also stated that apparel industry exports rose by HK $400 million (£28 million) or 4.9 percent to HK $8 billion (£558 million) during the same period.
But, the value of the textiles industry''s domestic exports fell by HK $500 million (£35 million) or 6.1 percent compared with the same quarter in 2003 to HK $7.8 billion (£545 million).
The combined value of these four major industries accounted for 73 percent of Hong Kong''s total domestic exports of manufactured goods. |
