Pakistan:Indian delegation steps in Pakistan to enhance trade ties |

A 10-member delegation of the Indian Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council visited the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA).
Prem Malik, the leader of Indian delegation stressed on the need to foster better trade relations between the two countries as the WTO challenges are same for both countries.
He invited exporters from Pakistan to explore the Indian markets for mutually beneficial projects for sustained trade in future.
Elaborating the point Prem Malik said that Pakistani textile sector is dominated by the cotton and polyester based products whereas, India can offer polyester, acrylic and cellulose based products for Pakistan and can benefit from the Pakistani exports.
During the open discussion, the members identified areas of mutual interest and cooperation that would enable both countries to benefit from each others’ experiences. Wide ranging talks covering the tariff structures, product ranges and specific trade requirements were discussed.
The main observation was that Pakistan could benefit from supply of cheaper and better quality of synthetic yarns, viscose filaments, dyes and other raw materials, while India can benefit from importing various Pakistani raw materials. The participants also discussed the idea of cooperation of the textile sectors in the post-quota regime. |
