USA:Hilfiger reserves ‘prime time’ |

 Fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger has no ready-to-wear on show here, but himself on the prime time.
CBS has roped in Hilfiger to celebrate his 20th anniversary in the rag trade, where 16 young designers will compete for a shot at creating their own line.
But if he has his way, ''The Cut'' will not be "Seventh Avenue does ''The Apprentice.''"
"Guiding someone into doing what I do is really second nature to me," said Hilfiger. He will play a good mentor unlike outrageous Donald Trump.
"We want it to be a very positive experience," said Hilfiger. "We don''t want anyone to feel lesser than or not adequate."
‘The Cut,’ set for next spring, will begin with the contestants living in a SoHo loft. Each week, Hilfiger and a celebrity-encrusted ‘Style Council’ will cut someone.
And no guesses for the winner’s prize! The winner will have Hilfiger''s help designing his or her own collection under the Tommy Hilfiger label.
''The Cut'' won''t be the first fashion reality show next season. The people behind "Project Greenlight" are preparing a similar documentary series for December on a competition called ''Project Runway'' featuring Heidi Klum.
The winner gets the chance to prepare a runway show for Fall Fashion Week in February.
Hilfiger stated that his show''s winner will not have to be a dedicated follower of the school of Tommy.
"I think there''s a lot of untapped talent out there that has never been exposed and would never have the opportunity to be exposed otherwise," he said.
"I watched a couple of episodes. I thought it was fun," said Hilfiger. "My show is a whole different thing. It''s not a focus on Tommy Hilfiger''s life, but what Tommy Hilfiger does and how Tommy Hilfiger can influence talented people on their way up." |
