Its the turn of textiles, tea and coffee sectors to get special packages after the Government announced the first-ever National Foreign Trade Policy offering a trade leveraging policy.
Speaking at a FCCI seminar, the Commerce Minister Kamal Nath said, "India has never leveraged trade. I am going to work on trade leveraging policy. We have to see trade as a net forex generator and net forex earner."
Special emphasis on certain sectors were needed in which the country had natural abilities, according to him.
"We need to look at the entire textile chain to see if we can come out with a textile package," he said, adding that the Ministry would this month organise a national seminar on the sector to address the issues as part of the preparation for the post-quota regime. |
