Hong Kong:Fashion Access ‘ups’ HK fashion status on international scale |

Hong Kong has stamped its predominance as the fashion hub of Asia by again holding the prestigious Fashion Access exhibition, which opened Wednesday here.
Earlier, Hong Kong has been the venue for a sting of events, shows, exhibitions that have been held in this former British island colony. Fashionable handbags, footwear, travelwear leather garments, fashion accessories and lifestyle products have all found a place undser the sun here.
To quote couple of examples: just a month back, a jewelry fair had over 1,900 companies participating from 47 countries and regions, and was visited by 120,000 visitors. Asia''s largest timepiece show ‘Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair’ witnessed rise by 10 percent overall, while visitors from Europe and the United States jumped 13 percent and 5 percent respectively.
The Fashion Access exhibition this year has attracted 418 exhibitions companies from 23 countries and regions. Over 5,300 buyers have pre-registered to visit the fair, which is a 53 percent increase compared with that last year.
"The signing of CEPA with the Chinese mainland provides Hong Kong with an unrivaled gateway to the fast growing market. Flagship stores of famous fashion brands further affirm Hong Kong''s noteworthy position as the fashion center in the Asia Pacific Region," said Michael Duck, director of Asia Pacific Leather Fair Ltd.
Such trade fairs and events according to him, build a bridge for manufacturers and suppliers to meet with international buyers, which further reaffirms Hong Kong''s unique position as the fashion hub of Asia.
Talent being the mainstay, and Hong Kong as a fashion hub boast of superb design and staging ability of various exhibitions to provide appropriate platform for talented Hong Kong designers.
To foster the design capability and encourage talented designers, most exhibitions held here in Hong Kong hold seminars and set special prizes for designers as well.
Fashion Access, this year will stage four seminars to provide buyers with the latest information on colors and material trends, spotting trends, and explore fresh market opportunities in the fastest growing markets. |
