India:Sericulture project seeks 2-year extension |

The prestigious Manipur sericulture project advisory board has sought its 2-year extension and decided to approach the department of economic affairs, Union ministry of finance for the extension of the project by another two years.
Before putting the proposal before the before the Union ministry of textiles, the board went in to all aspects reviewing its progress.
Meanwhile, the contract period of the project consultant, M/S Nippon Koei Co. Ltd, Japan during the initial period of the implementation was over on December 2001 and their services were terminated.
The state sericulture department has been searching for a new project consultancy firm by floating global tenders inviting expression of interest (EOI) for completion of the remaining consultancy works in phase-I. So far five consultancy firms have submitted their EOI for implementation of the Manipur Sericulture Project. All the firms were short listed by the project monitoring and evaluation committee. Out of the five firms, the department has received technical and financial proposals from three firms.
The evaluation of the technical and financial bids has been forwarded to the Central Silk Board (CSB) as in-depth examination is required. |
