Qatar:August exports at QR178.2m |

Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) announced that the country’s exports totaled QR178.2m in August this year.QCCI actually issues certificates of origin to all outgoing consignments from Qatar.
GCC markets accounted for 31 per cent of the total Qatari exports amounting to QR55.63m, said the release. The exports consisted primarily of reinforced steel, iron bars, polyethylene, chemical fertilizers, plastic products and petroleum additives. The top export partner for Qatar was the UAE followed by Saudi Arabia.
A QCCI publication noted that the value of exports to the GCC did not reflect the actual value as certain products exported to GCC countries were exempted from certificate of origin after the customs union was established.
Asian countries — except Arab countries — occupied the second place accounting for 23 per cent of the total exports worth QR41.41m. The exports to four Asian countries consisted mainly of polyethylene and fertilisers. India was the top export partner followed by Iran.
The European Union came third accounting for 18 per cent of the total exports worth QR31.74m. The exports consisted of polyethylene and chemical products. The products were exported to ten European countries with Holland leading Qatar''s export partners followed by Italy.
Arab countries — except the GCC — came in fourth accounting for 12 per cent of the total exports, consisting of polyethylene and fertilizers worth QR21.75m. The top expert trade partners were Egypt followed by Morocco of the nine Arab countries.
The fifth place went to America accounting for 11 per cent of the total exports, consisting of ready made garments to US and Canadian markets worth QR18.84m.
African countries — except Arab countries — came sixth accounting for 5 per cent of the total Qatari exports, consisting of only polyethylene worth QR 8.78m. South Africa was top export partner followed by Ethiopia. |
