Thygesen, the Danish textile group in a joint venture with the Chinese textile group Sunshell, has opened a new circular-knitting plant in China.
Zhucheng Thygesen Fabrics China Co. Ltd. the new venture, is located in Zhucheng, 100 km west of the Qingdao. The new plant will make elastic fabrics and the production facility has been built on a site near Sunshell upcoming cotton mill and a new textile dyehouse.
Thygesen''s managing director, Soeren Holstein, said that the three plants would have great synergy.
"We have been involved in the establishment, the planning, the selection of technology as well as the production procedures at the new plants", said Holstein.
Zhou Young, managing director of Sunshell Group, commented: "Thygesen operates on a high technological level and works innovatively with product development. These are parameters, besides cheap labour, where Sunshell in the future can differentiate itself from others. Sunshell has so far primarily exported to the Japanese market and now we are getting new sales prospects in Europe via the Danes."
Looking ahead to next year and the end of textile and clothing quotas, Holstein said: "Our perspective is to be able to provide refined fabrics to Sunshell''s own vertical production. Here, our specific possibilities lie within our recently established Danish subsidiary, T-Wear, which is intended to work as the European sales organisation for among others, the underwear industry."
Holstein said that there was great potential for the sale of unique and innovative fabrics to the Chinese textile industry. Due to this, the joint venture company will also establish a separate Chinese sales division to operate from Shanghai. |
