Textile Industry of the country was fully geared to meet the textile requirements of SAARC countries, Federal Minister for Textile Industry Ch. Mushtaq Ali Cheema said.
He spoke to media while enroute to Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh, acompanying the Prime Minister on Monday.
Pakistan, he said is producing best quality of textile products in compare to other regional countries so it is need of the hour that regional trade should be promoted. Our visit to these countries was aimed promotion of regional trade ties, he added.
Prices of Pakistani fabrics, ready-made garments, clothes etc is affordable by regional countries so it is not difficult for us that the volume of export could be increased, he added.
He was of the opinion that regional trade is imperative for the socio-economic prosperity of SAARC countries and Prime Minister Shoukat Aziz is going on an ambitious tour of regional countries to explore possibilities for the promotion of bilateral trade among the SAARC countries.
India, Maldives and Sri Lanka, are to be visited next in connection the promotion of regional trade.
He said several trade delegation have already visited Pakistan to explore the possibility of undertaking joint ventures in textile and other fields and the Government would do all to encourage foreign investment in textile sector where skill know how is available, for promotion of textile Industries, he concluded. |
