An ultra modern research and development laboratory is being planned by the Gemological Institute of India (GII) for diamond grading laboratory and gem testing.
The said laboratory will be equipped for identification of all types of synthetics and treatments on diamond and gemstones, establish facilities to impart advanced scientific and technical knowledge of gemstones especially in the field of diamonds, colored stones, pearls and jewelry, and become a national center for research studies on gemstones.
A MOU has been signed by GII to collaborate with the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Bharat Diamond Bourse, Diamond Exporters’ Association Ltd. and the Gem & Jewellery Exporters’ Association.
Praveenbhai Nanavati, founder of GII says that the institute will be able to serve the industry more effectively as a result of this collaboration, adding that this is just the beginning of a new era and that the industry will benefit a great deal in the long run. |
