With the Federal Opposition yesterday agreeing for gradual rollback of tariffs for clothes, carpets, linen and shoes, have led to textile unions issuing local job loss warnings.
Jack Morel, Secretary, Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia based in Queensland expressed his disappointment at ALP''s support for government moves to reduce industry protection measures between 2010 and 2015.
Labor earned brickbats from textile unions for its stance, won bouquets from business for its support of the textiles legislation.
Meanwhile, Heather Ridout, Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group commended Labor’s “constructive approach.” |
