Pakistan: Jewellery attractive as cut
in duty drawback announced

Reduced duty drawback rates for exporters of gold jewellery and plastic tricycles, has been announced by The Central Board of Revenue with effect from December 1, 2004, here in Islamabad. In two separate but identical notifications issued by the CBR on Wednesday, drawback rates on gold jewellery was reduced from Rs 63 per 11.66 grams to 59.50 per 11.66 grams (one tola). However, the repayment of customs duties allowed under this notification is admissible to the extent of imported gold content used in the manufacture of jewellery exported. Duty drawback rates on plastic tricycle of minimum weight of 2.6 kilogram each piece was announced from Rs 39.92 per piece to Rs 13.33 per piece.
