Brazil''s chemical industry is expecting to record sales of R$ 172.9 billion this year, which is 23.2% more than the R$ 140.3 billion reported for 2003, the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (Abiquim) announced Thursday.
In dollars, revenues are expected to grow 28.7% to some $58.7 billion in 2004.
Chemical products for industrial use will touch $33 billion (R$ 97.2 billion) of the total, or 31% more than last year.
Pharmaceutical products follow next at $6.6 billion, followed by fertilizers ($5.3 billion), pesticides ($4.2 billion), personal care products and cosmetics ($3.7 billion), soaps and detergents ($2.6 billion), and paints and varnishes ($1.5 billion).
Other chemical products are expected to total $1.8 billion this year, Abiquim said. |
