USA:ITC - Chinese wooden bedroom furniture harms US industry |

The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of wooden bedroom furniture from China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value.
All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.
As a result of the Commission''s affirmative determination, the U.S. Department of Commerce will issue an antidumping order on imports of wooden bedroom furniture from China.
The Commission''s public report Wooden Bedroom Furniture from China (Investigation No. 731-TA-1058 (Final), USITC Publication 3743, December 2004) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigation.

Product Description: The imported product subject to this investigation is wooden bedroom furniture. Wooden bedroom furniture is generally, but not exclusively, designed, manufactured, and offered for sale in coordinated groups, or bedrooms, in which all of the individual pieces are of approximately the same style and approximately the same material and/or finish. The subject merchandise is made substantially of wood products, including both solid wood and also engineered wood products made from wood particles, fibers, or other wooden materials such as plywood, oriented strand board, particle board, and fiberboard, with or without wood veneers, wood overlays, or laminates, with or without non-wood components or trim such as metal, marble, leather, glass, plastic, or other resins, and whether or not assembled, completed, or finished. Certain items are excluded from the scope of the investigation and are enumerated in the Department of Commerce''s Federal Register notice of November 17, 2004 (67 FR 67314). The subject merchandise is provided for in statistical reporting numbers 9403.50.9040, 9403.50.9080 and 7009.92.5000 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS).
