The company plans to invest RM15mil to RM20mil in the above venture, said Berjaya Retail executive director Francis Lee. A leading textile group from Europe, Miroglio Group has an annual turnover of over 960mil euros.
Lee informed that the company, which was planning to invest RM4mil to RM5mil in five to eight stores for the two labels in Malaysia, was targeting sales of RM1.8mil to RM2mil during the first year of operation.
The Miroglio Group consists of 36 companies and it consolidated yearly out put is 10 million garments, 25 million kilos of yarn and 100 million metres of fabric.
Berjaya was negotiating with major shopping malls in the Klang Valley such as Suria KLCC, MidValley Megamall and Sunway Pyramid currently. He informed this at the signing of agreements with local shopping malls Berjaya Times Square and 1 Utama Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The agreement will mark the establishment of three new Motivi and Caractere boutiques – one Motivi store each in Berjaya Times Square and 1 Utama Shopping Centre, and a Caractere boutique in 1 Utama Shopping Centre – all likely to open next month.
The Motivi label has entered Asia through Malaysia. Caractere boutiques have already been set up in China, Japan and South Korea. Lee said Motivi products would be in the same price range as brands such as MNG and Zara, while Caractere would be marketed as a more upmarket brand due to the usage of slightly more expensive fabric |
