The LINGERIE 2005 exhibition is scheduled for March this year and will feature underwear, lingerie, beachwear and accessories being organized in Russia, the CIS countries and the Baltic States at a high professional level.
The event has been held biannually since the year of 2001 and will have following categories of products on display:
Everyday Underwear, Exclusive Lingerie, Bridal Lingerie, Men’s Underwear, Nightwear & Loungewear, Foundation Garments, Beachwear & Swimwear and Hosiery.
The organisers of “LINGERIE 2004” LIN.EX LLC, Russia held in September 21 – 24, 2004 report all round success of its VII International Specialized Exhibition of Underwear and Accessories.
Given below is the statistical data according to the registration survey:
Total exhibition area – 386 sq.m. Total number of exhibitors – 25
The 7th International Specialized Exhibition LINGERIE 2004 was distinguished by three main features:
- A wider range of international brands covering different price ranges to meet all types of distribution; - A segmented offer gearing around 4 main categories of products: daily women’s underwear, lingerie, men’s underwear, swimwear & beachwear; - An increasing number of professional attendees.
These were the ingredients of a successful LINGERIE 2004 edition.
Total number of visitors reached 1,280.
Of these professional attendees (actual buyers) were 58% of the total number, that is 742 people. This figure has been counted according to the answer ''yes'' or ''no,'' which the registered visitors provided to the question “Is your interest in the exhibition professional or not?” in the questionnaire. It should be noted that few visitors answered ''No'' to the above question, though they do represent the lingerie sector.
Distributors (at least, those who identify themselves as distributors) totaled to 156 people – 21% of the professional attendees.
40% (297 people) were retailers, representing specialized shops and lingerie boutiques.
11.2% (83 persons) represented department stores, having underwear sections.
18.7% (139 persons) identified themselves as agents / representatives of foreign underwear companies.
9.1% (67 persons) were individual underwear retailers.
As usual, women’s underwear & lingerie stands in the center of visitors’ interests. 42.4% of all respondents said that they were looking for this product category. The second place belongs to swimwear & beachwear – 18.2%. Men’s underwear seems to be not a very popular product for distribution – only 15%.
The share of hosiery is even less – 13.9% (it was not represented at the exhibition, anyway). The rest of the respondents had difficulty in defining, what they were looking for.
As far as visitors from abroad are concerned, Russia remains a strategic market in the European context. The promotional strategy of the exhibition had been targeted mainly at Russian buyers coming from all distribution channels.
Hence, Russia ranks first with its 94.6% of all visitors.
Visitors from Ukraine and Poland each stood at 1.4%. Visitors from Moldova were only 0.5%. The same figures (0.5%) are true for Latvia and Turkey. Italy showed 1.08%.
If we talk about visitors from Russia, the overwhelming majority of them came from Moscow (nearly 96%). It is explained by the fact that Moscow is not only the capital of the state, but also the “heart’ of the Russian business. Everything starts in Moscow.
Visitors from St. Petersburg, the Northern capital of Russia, made only 2%. This fact can be justified historically: St. Petersburg has always preferred to deal with its Northern neighbors - Scandinavian countries, and the Baltic region.
However, visitors from other regions of Russia were also present at the exhibition. Among them: from Yekaterinburg, Tchelyabinsk (the Ural region); Ryasan, Smolensk, Novgorod, Ivanovo, Kostroma (the Central region); Kazan, Saratov, Samara, Tcheboksary, Volgograd (the Volga region); Krasnodar, Sotchi, Anapa (the Southern region, by the Black Sea); Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tyumen, Tomsk (Siberia); Sakhalinsk, Nakhodka (the Far East).
However, Italy was the largest exhibiting country at the show.
Two months prior to the exhibition, the registration was opened at the Internet-site www.impulsexpo.ru. The results of the pre-registration showed that the exhibition could be interesting not only for local attendees, but also for international visitors, especially from the Asian region, the Middle East, South-Eastern Asia, even Africa.
Unfortunately, mainly due to visa problems, visitors from these regions were not able to come to the exhibition. However, for organizers of the exhibition this rising interest can serve as the grounds to widen the promotional campaign for the upcoming exhibition in March 2005 named LINGERIE 2005, and count not only upon the local attendees, but on foreign visitors as well. |
