Cosmetics and personal-care products exports for the country reached $221.5 million mark last year, compared to $179.4 million during 2003, says Argentine Association for the Cosmetics and Perfume Industry CAPA.
Exports to Mercosur countries excluding Chile accounted for about 34 percent, while Chile alone imported 33 percent of beauty products. The Andean community (Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Ecuador) accounted for 15 percent of exports, while Mexico, the US and Canada made up for 9 percent.
CAPA executive director Miguel González Abella said, "The objective is to keep on growing exports from Argentina. Our priority is to consolidate in Latin America and to search for new markets through commercial missions, fairs and expositions."
On the other hand, imports rose $157.1 million, compared with $107.7million in 2003, with 58 percent coming from Mercosur countries, 20 percent from Europe and 15 percent from North America. |
