Bangladesh:Jute growers concerned due to seed shortages |

Four major jute growing areas of Bangladesh - Rajbari Sadar, Baliakandi, Pangsha and Goalondo are facing severe shortage of jute seeds pushing prices beyond their means.
This is likely to affect the overall jute output as hundreds of farmers are worried whether they will be able to procure the seed in time for cultivation.
Floods causing damage to jute plants resulted in shortage of seeds this year, Mozaharul Islam, Deputy Director – Agriculture was quoted in news reports. |
