French textile industry to investigate possible Chinese dumping |
2005-6-30
The French textile industry association said Monday it would launch probe on Chinese textile imports for possible dumping on the French market at unfairly low prices, according to a web-based newspaper, Tocqueville Connection.
"We have decided to put together a micro- and macroeconomic file enabling us to prove what we are contending," said association president Guillaume Sarkozy, who also stated that the French industry was facing "major problems caused by unfair and illegal (Chinese) trade practices."
In the planned anti-dumping probe, it is expected that the 10 clothing and textile products mentioned in a EU-China agreement of June 11 would be the focus.
The French textile association will also see imports of other product categories, such as socks and shirts.
