China:CTC to abolish export tariffs imposed on 17 textile products |
2005-7-27
China announced that it will abolish the export tariffs imposed on 17 Chinese textile products following the European Union''s new trade restrictions as of August 1.
The Customs Tariff Commission (CTC) under the State Council informed that the EU has announced quantitative restrictions on 17 types of Chinese textiles as of July 20.
The commission said China still collect export tariff on 51 other textile goods in a bid to control excessive expansion of textile exports.
The decision was made by the commission on July 21 after it was approved by the State Council, China''s cabinet.
Both the EU and the United States have moved to limit imports of Chinese textile goods despite global textile liberalization arrangement as of Jan. 1, 2005, under which quantitative measures, such as the quota system introduced by rich countries, have been abolished.
