The Viet Nam Textile and Garment Association (VITAS) and the Taiwan Textile Federation signed a cooperation deal in Ha Noi on Dec. 22.
VITAS President Le Quoc An said the deal would help the textile industries of the two sides progress domestically, and Taiwan would assist Viet Nam to develop its fashion industry.
The Taiwanese side said that Viet Nam has become a big partner for Taiwan over the past five years, with its export staples of fabric and fibre.
The textile and garment industry has recorded the second highest export turnover among industries in Viet Nam, and achieved high growth rates in the past five years.
Taiwan is now leading in investment in Viet Nam and also in the country's textile and garment industry.
On the occasion of the signing, the Viet Tien Garment Company coordinated with the Taiwan Centre of Design to organise a seminar on world fashion trends for 2006-2007 and introduce Orient Identities collection.
