Eleksen Ltd, a US-based developers and manufacturers of smart fabrics, announced the availability of its ElekTex smart fabric wireless keyboard in the US, which can be rolled up when not in use to fit easily in a pocket or handbag.
Weighing 2.4oz, the flexible keyboard is designed for portable computing and communications devices. It uses Bluetooth connectivity, is 100% fabric, water-repellent and durable, and comes with a mobile phone/PDA stand.
Designed for Smart phones, PDAs and handheld devices, the laptop-sized keyboard supports easy access to email, document editing, texting and mobile web browsing.
"We've designed this product with the business person on the go in mind so it's the perfect companion product for the highly mobile worker who wants to use a lightweight computer like a PDA or Smart phone to stay in contact with their office and their customers," said Product Manager Andrew Newman.
The keyboard is available now for distributors and retailers in the US to be sold through their Smart phone peripherals and accessories businesses. It can be customized to meet the branding requirements of the smallest and largest distributors, retailers and wireless network carriers. It can also be styled to fit the corporate identity of large enterprise users.
The keyboard's standard design includes a charcoal gray fabric keyboard and the electronics plastic housing has an embedded LED to show keyboard status and Bluetooth connectivity status.
The Eleksen smart keyboard sensor, electronics and Bluetooth interface is available for entities interested in designing or manufacturing their own, branded smart fabric keyboard interfaces for the growing market of highly portable and mobile computing devices. This reference design can be scaled to support different keypad sizes and covering materials.
