To give a fitting legal reply to European Union’s anti-dumping duties on footwear industry, Chinese shoe manufacturers formed a united front to defend EU’s duties by raising legal defense fund to fight their case.
EU announced it would impose 4.8 percent anti-dumping duty on leather shoes imported from China from April 7, 2006. The duties are to rise to 19.4 percent by October.
However, Wu Zhenchang, President of the Guangdong Chuangxin Shoe Manufacturing Company said EU's decision was not backed by any strong evidence.
The legal defense fund will be about 3 million yuan (US $375,000), and Chinese union would invite European lawyers to defend its case against the duty, Wu said. |
