China : Govt should provide textile associations vital authority
Textile industry is somewhat in a rut lately, with the end of textile quotas and rising value of renmenbi - RMB.
Besides, tax rate for refunds on exported products has also been increased.
To support the textile sector in this dire situation it is important that the associations come forward and seek suitable amends.
However, the associations do not have the power or the authority to carry out the necessary functions.
They are not set up by the textile enterprises, nor are they accepted by the entire textile community.
Government should take charge and change this situation, providing the associations the necessary power, industry sources claimed.
