China : Cocoon production & export account for 70% |
2006-10-10
Annual cocoon production is expected to reach 669000 tons in 2006, up 8.6 percent from last year, representing a balance in supply and demand in general, according to the estimate by the State Ministry of Commerce.
China’s cocoon output and export has accounted for 70 percent of world cocoon production and export in 20 consecutive years.
After the implementation of "Mulberry shifts from East to West" project, the output in parts of cocoon producing areas in the Midwest significantly gained this year though the main producing areas suffered natural disasters, consequently providing a general balance between supply and demand in industrial chains.
Under this forecast and with the help of "Mulberry shifts from East to West" project, China’s cocoon output would possibly reach 870,000 tons, with an average annual growth of 8.35 percent, accounting for about 75 percent of the world output, 2-3 percent over the current share; meanwhile China would continue to take an overwhelming position in the world cocoon industry. |
