This year, China's first ‘space cotton’ hybrid seed successfully in a large area in Huimin county, Shandong province, which is the largest hybrid cotton seed production base, among the hybrid seeds, ‘Hui W8225’ insect-resistant cotton seed is a high-yielding combination after years of successful matching cooperation.

In order to obtain better quality cotton resources and further improve the technology in quality cotton seeds, upon the nomination of the state department of science and technology last August, ‘Hui W8225’ landed on China’s 21 retrievable scientific experimental satellite, taking off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, and successfully returned earth after 27 days traveling in space.

This spring, Huimin county planted more than 13 hectares with the hybrid seeds. If the plantation of the 13 hectares succeeds, Shandong will extend efforts to aggressively promote the popularization of this high-quality cotton.
