On December 28, 2006, a new textile association was set up in Lanzhou city of Gangsu province. This new textile association is expected to boost textile industry of Gangsu province in 5 years.

The association is planning to improve infrastructure, introduce new technology, create own brand and employ more and more skilled labourers in the industry.

During January to December, output of textile industry stood at RMB553 million, a surge of 12.2 percent.

The total production of textile industry is expected to reach RMB2500 million and export at RMB150 million by 2010.
