According to the latest statistics from the State Statistical Bureau, in 2005, the cumulative yarn output was 14.124 million tons, an increase of 3.1754 million tons over the same period of the previous year, up 29 percent (before adjustment).

Being driven by the huge domestic demand in fabrics and garment, China’s yarn industry is showing a tremendous potential for development. Now China's per capita fiber consumption is only 14 kilograms, while per capita GDP has exceeded US $1,000, therefore domestic consumption is in a rapid growth phase.
Textile industrial sources believe that per capita fiber consumption in 2010 is expected to reach 17-18 kgs demand for yarn in the market will continue to move up.
Meanwhile, China has maintained rapid growth of yarn exports. According to Customs statistics, from January to December 2005, China exported a total quantity of 1.6969 million tons of yarn, representing a year-on-year increase of 20.73 percent.
In which, synthetic fiber yarn has the highest growth rate, up 25.91 percent over the same period last year, reflecting the results of large-scale technical transformation for many years. Chemical fiber industry has achieved tremendous development; chemical fiber products have enhanced their competitiveness in international market.
But China has so far focused onconventional varieties in fiber products, which largely restricts the upgrading pace of new and innovative processes.
The important competition for future market lies in the quality and functionality of products. Yarn spinning industry should seriously adopt modern technology and continuously promote the product quality, only by then the developing potential of the overall industry could be really released.
