Mr. Du Yuzhou, President of China National Textile and Apparel Council, a national confederation of textile organizations in China, is expected to give an impressive and insightful speech entitled “China’s Future in the World Textile Industry” at ITMA World Textile Forum on 12 September in Munich at the invitation of Mr. A.E. Roberts, President of CEMATEX.
Mr. Du’s presence and presentation would certainly add much value to this already splendid global event. ITMA is the world largest textile machinery show, presenting the most updated technology and equipment to the textile manufacturers. Du’s participation is viewed as an encouraging signal for China to continue its interest and determination in introducing the advanced technology to Chinese textile industry which is now experiencing a transitional period from an old and traditional way of growth to a new roadmap of industrialization, a change for a new growth mode in the future.
This view can be well argued in Mr. Du’s speech as he points out the important contribution made by science and technology to the rapid growth of Chinese textile industry in the past, and forecasts China’s way forward amid growing scares of Chinese outbound shipments in the complicated global trade environment, placing much emphasis on its domestic market drive to future’s growth.
Although his full text of speech is yet to come, the outline of subheadings is given as following points:
1. Economic Globalization brings about new opportunity and vitality to speed up structural adjustment and industrial upgrading in the world textile industry;
2. Development of Chinese textile industry in process of economic globalization; This title is sub-headed into detail discussions, such as the continuous domestic rising demand is the leading pull-on force of the sustained high-speed growth in Chinese textile industry, a good exterior environment for this speedy growth since China’s entry to WTO, reform and marketization are also the factors for its tremendous growth;
3. Implement science-oriented development strategy to strive for a shift to the better growth mode and for an expanded international cooperation.
Du’s idea and thoughts are always taken as something indispensable and valuable in decision making by Chinese enterprises with “guideline” effect, because his personal career experience is convincing. He was once V. Minister of the former Ministry of Textile in China, and later, President of State Administration of Textile Industry. His present position as President of CNTAC, a non-government organization for providing non-profit consulting services to the textile industry, is still equally important and much adored by many textile players both at home and abroad as his strong belief in science and technology’s role in sustaining textile growth would be no doubt an impetus to international suppliers to join textile industrial modernization drive in China.
His personal involvement in supporting ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008 to be held in Shanghai next year also reflects his idea of bringing the technological bests to China, a concrete step to materialize his science-driven upgrading plan in this industry.
