Flocked effects will join sand blasting and bleaching as important finishing treatments for the new season’s denim range according to Tencel Ltd, which supplies its branded Tencel fibre into the international casualwear market.
Also striking a new note in Tencel cotton blended fabrics is the use of reddish tinted indigo dyes to lend a brighter appearance to the fabric surface.
Meanwhile, extended use of laser printing introduces floral patterning to the jeans trade. This can be in the form of all-over designs or as apparently random motifs scattered across the finished garment.
“Consumers are, however, expected to continue to demand classic denims with a mellow well-worn appearance combined with a soft handle,” Tencel adds.
