Textiles company Adria has announced what it describes as one of the biggest breakthroughs in yarn technology for many years. The company''s research and development centre in the north-west of Northern Ireland has developed a revolutionary new process for the manufacture of covered yarn.
Adria, which employs more than 1,000 people at Strabane and Campsie, says the process will mean that high quality and very durable yarn products can be produced at a very competitive price.
It has set up a new joint venture company to market the yarn around the world. Its partner in the joint venture is CMT plc, a technologies company with operations in Australia, Europe, and the United States.
Adria chairman Terry McCartney said this was a very important development for the future of the company.
